After the death of his parents, Dick Grayson was adopted&trained by the Dark Knight&became Robin. He became a master at many different fighting styles, but eventually hung his cape to fight crime on his own as Nightwing. Grayson had been a member&leader of many teams of heroes from the Teen Titans to the Outsiders&Justice League. He even became Batman for a stint. Although he was the successor of the Bat, he was also his own man; he wasn’t driven like Bruce was. Grayson fights crime because he genuinely wants to help&does it with a smile while saving the world&making wise cracks. He uses many gadgets that Batman created over the years such as Batarangs, grappling hooks, and electrically charged batons called Escrima sticks which can become a bo-staff. Bad guys are in for a smackin’.

This is the full version, which is slightly more off-center than the original upload.  I think it works better in an odd way.

“Be contemporary. Have impact. Strive for it. Be of the world. Move it. Be bold, don’t hold back. Then the moment you think you’ve been bold, be bolder. We are all alive today, ever so briefly here now, not then, not ago, not in some dreamworld of a hypothetical future. Whatever you do, you must make it contemporary. Make it matter now. You must give us a new path to tread, even if it carries the footfalls of old soles. You must not be immune to the weird urgency of today.”

Wisdom from Ian Bogost’s commencement address at the University of Iowa, a fine addition to this ongoing archive of timeless advice. Pair with Greil Marcus’s fantastic 2013 School of Visual Arts commencement address.
